Katie's Big News

As some of you know by now (hopefully most!), my big news is that I'm getting married this year. In less than a month, in fact! Kyle and I have been together since early January 2008, and, while this may seem relatively quick, it's been nothing but smooth sailing from the beginning.

Life for me has been quite the flurry of activity for the last while: I moved out to mom and dad's place in Brandon in January of this year to concentrate on my thesis, which is the final requirement for me to finish my MA of Theology (Church History). I struggled for a while to narrow down my proposal to a point that made a workable thesis, and in the meantime, Kyle had proposed, and we began planning for our wedding - for 2010. By the end of March I had an approved [thesis] proposal in hand, and was looking forward to getting to the writing. I dove back into research to beef up on my two primary sources, and then, in mid-May, Kyle and I decided to move the wedding up to this year, and suddenly the thesis took back seat to wedding planning.

We're down to the wire now, and I'm looking forward to not only celebrating with friends, but also to having the wedding done with, so I can begin life with this wonderful man I've found (and finish that pesky thesis!). We've got a great apartment lined up in Winnipeg, and it will also be nice to move back to the city I've been calling home for 5 years now. (Wow, that's the longest I've lived anywhere in one stretch!)

Ah yes, one last note: for future reference, Schewe is pronounced "Shave." This is not only important because it's Kyle's last name, but because chances are pretty good that I'll be taking it as my last name, too. :)
