This is a picture I took of a gate in one of the former Mennonite villages, and judging from the sequence of my pictures, I believe it was in Liebenau. I am wondering if this is the same gate and fence pictured on the front page of our Blog, but a different angle.
If you look at David & Barbara's photos (you need to go to the very first message & photo (August 4, 2009) that Sandra posted when she began this Blog (keep scrolling down and clicking on Old Posts til you get there; then click on "...photos" - those on the trip will recognize the pictures of the Schoensee Church (for the rest of you, it is a shell with a growth of trees inside); just after those pictures is one of "the gate" - is this the one that you, Sandra used for the main picture on the Blog?? It's location in the sequence of David & Barbara's photos also tells me it could be from Liebenau (between Schoensee and Klippenfeld (see pastures with women milking cows).
There is considerable interest in identifying the picture of "the Gate" on the Blog; some think it is from Mariawohl - Herb and I don't think so, certainly not the current Mariawohl. Any comments from anyone?

Check Rudy Friesen's book,Building on the Past, 2004. On page 326, there are 2 pictures of Mennonite Gateposts taken in Liebenau in 1997 and 2001. The top one resembles the one taken by me (above), which also looks identical to the picture on the RR3 Fransen blog. It seems to me that when the blog was first created on August 4, 2009, the picture was in colour, but soon after that date, it was changed to look "historical". Is that true?
