Mariawohl, 1978

These are photos taken in 1978 when our father (Nicholas Fransen, 1907 - 2000), step-mother Tina, Herta, Werner & I visited Mariawohl. Here are three views taken from the main road in Mariawohl. On the top picture, four of us are walking westwards along "the fence" which has become a strategic point of identification for locating the place where Herb's and my Grandparents (Nicholas & Maria (Wichert) Fransen lived. My note on the back of the picture based on information from our father says: 1978, Original fence in front of Johann Schoenke's home, neighbour to Nick Fransen in 1920's. Our father and Johann Schoenke were best friends, and both Herb & I have met him. The picture of this fence (2009 version) is also displayed on previous posts (with Hannah, Kate, & Viktoria). The question is: where is it located in relationship to the yard which we are almost certain contains the ruins (excavated basement in progress) of our Grandparents house (Nicholas & Maria (Wichert) Fransen? When facing the Fransen yard, is the portion of the original fence to the left or the right of the yard? We look to hear from people who were there this July or in 2007.

The second & third photos are taken looking eastwards (I believe) towards the former Paulsheim end of Mariawohl. Photo two gives a view of the small brick bungalows that were readily in sight while walking down the Mariawohl road in 1978. Where are they now?

Photo three is simply an extended view of the road in Mariawohl.
